When it comes to housing, Canadians expect quality and want to fight climate change. Leading home builders know this. They’re already building to a high standard and aiming higher. That’s energy efficiency at work; we’re here to help.
EnerQuality is the #1 certifier of energy efficient housing in Canada and the market leader in residential green building programs.
Founded in 1998 by the Ontario Home Builders’ Association and the Canadian Energy Efficiency Alliance, we’ve been part of the growing residential energy efficiency industry for the past 20 years.
EnerQuality creates voluntary, market-based programs that support builders and accelerate innovation in construction. We partner with government, manufacturers, utilities, energy advisors, architects and engineers to bring our programs to market.
In 2005, EnerQuality joined forces with Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) to develop ENERGY STAR® for New Homes. Turns out we created the most successful energy efficiency program in Canadian housing.
In 2018, thanks to funding from the IESO and Enbridge, EnerQuality and NRCan teamed up again to develop ENERGY STAR® Multifamily. Now in market, it’s going to change how we build mid/high-rise housing.
Improving the energy efficiency of housing is a critical strategy in the fight against climate change. The good news is we know how to do it.
Canada has been a global leader in buildng science since the 1970s. Decades later, market-based programs like ENERGY STAR® and Enbridge’s Optimum Home and Savings By Design have put new residential construction on the path to net zero.
But there’s more to better building than energy. Durability, resilience and occupant health and comfort are equally important dimensions of quality.
Thankfully, EnerQuality’s builders are serious about sustainability, trained in building science and skilled in quality construction. They’re the best in the business and we’re proud to work with them.
