Mahmood AkbariGeneral Manager, Acorn Developments Corporation Mahmood Akbari is the General Manager at Acorn Developments Corporation. He has over 17 years of experience managing company-wide project functions and leading large scale construction projects, from the planning stages to successful completion. Throughout his time in the residential construction industry, Mahmood has worked in a variety of roles, diversifying his skills in building/optimizing organizational processes, measurement systems, and procurement strategies to maximize business results.


Salvatore Ciarlo, Technical Services & Codes and Standards Director, Owens Corning Canada

Sal leads the architectural solutions and technical services team for Owens Corning Canada, supporting architects engineers, general contractors and insulation contractors, across Canada. He is also involved in the design, certification and commercialisation of innovative products and building envelope enclosure systems for the building construction industry. A civil engineer with more than 26 years of building science experience, Sal specializes in high performance and Net Zero building envelope designs, acoustic and fire separation systems and solutions. Sal is very active on Provincial and National Code committees helping develop energy codes and standards. He is an active member of Construction Specifications Canada and sits on the board of directors of the Quebec Building Envelope Council. Sal has presented educational seminars to architects, engineering professionals and builders across the country, focusing on next generation building envelope solutions and designs, net zero envelopes, air barrier systems, noise control and fire protection systems.


Steve CorneliusResidential Products Business Development Manager, Mitsubishi Electric Sales Canada Inc.

As an experienced business manager specializing in the Air to Air Heat Pump solutions, Steven has a passion for efficient, environmentally responsible HVAC solutions. Currently managing the residential and light commercial business operation in Ontario, supporting a distribution network and the AEC industry.  He works with all stakeholders as the industry strategizes to meet GHG reduction targets in Canada. Understanding cold climate heat pump technologies and its advantages over conventional heating systems, will be crucial for the future of the built environment.


Cindy Gareau, Executive Director, Canadian Association of Consulting Energy Advisors (CACEA)

Cindy Gareau is the executive director of the Canadian Association of Consulting Energy Advisors (CACEA) – the national association that represents Canadian energy advisors and is focused on ensuring a sustainable and credible profession.  Cindy brings over 25 years of experience as an accomplished executive director and association professional. She has a broad variety of sector expertise and knowledge, and experience in solid, strategic non-profit leadership. As of 2019, Cindy has worked with CACEA’s board of directors to grow and strengthen CACEA and provide its members with knowledge, a supportive network and a unified voice.


Cindy Kaye, Account Manager, Sales, Laurel Oak

Cindy Kaye has worked in sales and marketing at Laurel Oak Marketing Ltd. since 2013. Cindy works with her clients within the home building industry with the goal of improving their marketing reach to Ontario home builders.   Her projects consist of Ontario Home Builder magazine,, and Ontario Builder Forum.   Before joining Laurel Oak, Cindy worked in marketing and event management at Sun Media for its consumer and trade show division.


Kevin Lockhart, Efficient Buildings Lead, Efficiency Canada

Kevin is the Efficient Buildings Lead with Efficiency Canada. Kevin’s public policy acumen, keen understanding of stakeholder interests and building science background has helped him lead advocacy, communications, and public policy campaigns at all levels of government in support of a low-carbon, energy efficient built environment.


Evelyn Lundhild, Senior Manager, Program Services, IESO

Evelyn Lundhild is the Senior Manager, Program Services for the IESO. In this role, she oversees the program delivery, design, and technical support functions for the Energy Efficiency Department. Her team is responsible for province-wide delivery of all of the Save on Energy programs in Ontario. Prior to this role, she held a number of roles within the IESO related to program design and delivery including the delivery of the Green Ontario Fund residential programs. She has been with the IESO (and former OPA) for ten years. She has an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Waterloo and an MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University.


Mike Macey, Owens Corning Canada

Mikey Macey is a Regional Sales Leader for Owens Corning Canada and has worked with Owens Corning for over 20 years. He is responsible for Eastern Canada (Ontario, Quebec & Atlantic) with portions of Western Canada as well. Mike manages eight Area Sales Managers and is responsible for managing a portfolio of Owens Corning Products & Solutions. He currently resides in Kitchener, Ontario and is married with two active kids.


Sonny Pirrotta, National Sales Manager, Heating and Air Conditioning at Panasonic Canada, Panasonic

Sonny Pirrotta is the HVAC National Sales Manager at Panasonic Canada. He has been in the HVAC industry for over 10 Years.  His experience working as Contractor, Wholesaler, and Manufacturer has allowed him to be a trusted advisor to all levels of the HVAC distribution Channel.


Andrew Pride, P. Eng., LEED AP, Principal Consultant, Andrew Pride Consulting

Andrew is a strategic advisor, facilitator, and technical expert who helps clients create long-term vision with sustainable strategies. With years of pragmatic executive experience in green buildings and energy efficiency, from the private, regulatory, and public-sector perspectives, he brings a unique qualification to bridge business needs, social responsibility, and brand value. An enthusiastic and engaging facilitator, researcher, and analyst, he develops, and fosters multi-faceted stakeholder-centric solutions with a keen focus on measurable results.

In addition to Andrew’s consulting business, he is the Chair of the Standing Committee on Energy Efficiency– the group responsible for all national energy codes in Canada – the National Energy Code for Buildings, and the energy section (9.36.) of the National Building Code.

Jacqueline Collier, Sales and Marketing Manager, Tamarack Developments Corporation

With two decades of experience in the residential construction industry, Jacqueline is Manager of Sales & Marketing with Tamarack Homes in Kingston, Ontario. She is also honoured to hold positions including President of the Kingston Home Builders Association, Chair of the Board for Habitat for Humanity Kingston Limestone Region, Chair of the City of Kingston’s Housing and Homeless Committee, and Vice President of the Board with the Boys & Girls Club of Kingston and Big Brothers Big Sisters KFLA. Jacqueline has further partnered with local and provincial organizations to attract new generations into the construction industry, with particular emphasis on welcoming and saluting Women in Construction.  Jacqueline was winner of EnerQuality’s Builder Achievement Award (2018) and winner of the ENERGY STAR® Champion Award (2017). Jacqueline is passionate about green construction and regularly attends seminars, roundtables and forums for energy efficient building, ENERGY STAR® and Net Zero construction. She notes that building homes is a part of who she is and feels privileged to be a part of an exceptional team and industry who strive every day to build a better, greener world.


Dave Dekort, Director of Midrise, Mattamy Homes

Dave Dekort is currently working as the Director of Midrise for the GTA Urban Division of Mattamy Homes in my 21st year with the Company.  I spent the first 11 years working on site building many Mattamy Communities across the GTA.  Upon completion of Mattamy’s first four storey apartment buildings in Toronto, I took a leading role in the office as the lead on all Midrise projects.   The fast paced environment and the constant opportunities to learn and develop at Mattamy has kept me loving everyday I go to work.


Tony Irwin, President & CEO, Federation of Rental-Housing Providers of Ontario (FRPO)

Tony Irwin is President & CEO at the Federation of Rental-Housing Providers of Ontario (FRPO). With 2,200 members, FRPO is the leading advocate for quality rental housing in Ontario. Before joining FRPO, Tony was President & CEO at the Canadian Consumer Finance Association; a national trade association representing businesses that provide a range of financial products to Canadians. Prior to his posting at CCFA, Tony held progressively senior roles in the financial services and insurance sectors. From 2005-2009 Tony served as Executive Director of the Justin Eves Foundation, a non-profit organization granting scholarships and bursaries to learning-disabled and disadvantaged young people to assist them to achieve a post-secondary education. Tony has also held key political roles and was Senior Advisor to an Ontario Premier and Executive Assistant to the Leader of the Official Opposition.


Alex Lukachko, M.Arch., Principal, Senior Building Science Specialist, RDH Building Science Inc.

Alex Lukachko is a Principal and Senior Building Science Specialist with RDH Building Science Inc. He manages the firm’s Ontario region and consults with clients in Canada and the United States, including building material manufacturers, constructors, and architecture firms. Alex also teaches the integration of energy, building science and design concepts in the architecture program at the University of Toronto.

As a consultant, Alex is typically involved in early project stage consulting for high performance new construction or existing building retrofits, using an integrated approach to enclosure, mechanical system and energy performance design. Additionally, he has developed best practice guidelines for commercial and residential enclosure design and detailing, including alternative building systems.


Craig McIntyre, PEng, MSc, CMVP, LEED AP, President, EQ Building Performance

Craig McIntyre is president of EQ Building Performance Inc., a Toronto-based consulting firm serving the high-rise residential and commercial market. Craig has 20 years experience in the high performance building industry and currently sits on CaGBC’s Technical Advisory Group for Energy & Engineering. At EQ, Craig leads a team of sustainability consultants, energy modellers, and commissioning agents that guide the creation of responsible buildings.


Josh Rosset VP of Business Development at HOMES Publishing Group.

Josh has worked in the publishing industry for over 20 years. During that time he has worked closely with members of the building industry as a media partner for builders, suppliers, renovators and designers.
