Hear from Andrew Pride, Gord Cooke, Monica Curtis and local builders and energy advisors on high-performance homes, building codes changes, and municipal sustainability standards

Join us on Wednesday, October 26 for a half-day session co-hosted by Durham Region HBA and EnerQuality to help the local building industry find a direct path between building code changes, high performance buildings, and municipal sustainability requirements.

Monica Curtis, EnerQuality and Gord Cooke, Building Knowledge will lead this workshop with subject matter experts and interactive activities that will cover overviews of sustainability and energy efficiency in the residential construction; a recap of the National Building Code and Ontario code harmonization related to energy and sustainability; insight into practical pathways to sustainability; and related case studies illustrating practical applications considering design and modeling, technology trade-offs, installation and cost. The collective working sessions also offer an opportunity to explore practical solutions for your business.

Consultant to the National Building Code of Canada, Andrew Pride, joins the event to share timely updates related to building codes, building certification and municipal sustainability requirements to prepare you for the 2020 NBC adoption process.

Building science experts from high-performance building firms Building Knowledge Canada and A&J Energy Consultants will bring local builders to panel discussions and case studies that provide practical applications of sustainable and high-performance technologies and practices, as well as an opportunity to share experiences in an in-person format.

Relevant to builders, energy advisors, licensed professionals, and contractors, the event will focus on Part 9 buildings and transferable practices to multifamily (Part 3) buildings. This may be of particular interest to builders beginning or considering expansion from low-rise to mid-rise construction.
