A new program just hit the housing market. Mid- and high-rise builders have the opportunity to certify their buildings with the trusted ENERGY STAR® brand, commonly known for products, equipment and new homes.
ENERGY STAR® for New Homes is the most successful certification program in Canadian construction, and now that same level of quality and efficient construction is coming to mid- and high-rise residential buildings.
In this mandatory full-day workshop for Licensed Professionals, you will study the Program Guide’s technical requirements as they pertain to the responsibility of the builders in the ENERGY STAR® Multifamily High Rise program, the Certification process and the Documentation and Submissions processes.
Note: Both this and the Builder workshop are mandatory for ENERGY STAR® Multifamily licensed professionals.

- Understand the role and responsibilities of a Licensed ENERGY STAR® professional and the Service Organization;
- Understand ES-MFHR’s program requirements and the certification process;
- Understand the full scope and details of energy modelling, testing and verification
- Understand the Quality Assurance Protocol and what is expected of Licensed Professionals;
- Understand the differences between a building that meets the Building Code and one that is ENERGY STAR® certified

Principal and Senior Building Science Specialist at RDH Building Science
Alex Lukachko manages RDH’s Toronto region and consults with clients in Canada and the United States, including building material manufacturers, constructors, and architecture firms. He is a frequent speaker at industry events and teaches the integration of energy, building science and design concepts in the architecture programs at the University of Waterloo and the University of Toronto. Alex has active research interests in the development of future building enclosure systems and the design of high performance, low environmental impact buildings. These interests are part of a long-term pursuit of effective (and measurable) sustainable building practices.
Building Science Engineer (EIT) at RDH Building Science
Christina’s work at RDH includes whole-building energy modelling, thermal modelling, and policy research. As a part of RDH’s research and energy team, she also consults on industry best practice guides and technical advisory reports for building-related programs. Her primary interest is creating low-energy, resilient, and durable buildings that lead the evolving policy landscape.
Kristen Yee Loong
Associate, Energy and Sustainability Specialist at RDH Building Science
With her experience in sustainable design and construction support, Kristen brings an invaluable depth of knowledge to RDH Toronto. Her expertise includes building energy modeling and consulting on energy-efficient system design strategies for LEED and code compliance. Kristen is familiar with working on both new construction and existing building types including healthcare, institutional, and residential.
