A reminder to all builders building ENERGY STAR® qualified homes under the ENERGY STAR® for New Homes program that you are required to sign an annual attestation that non-visual components in the home meet the requirements laid out in the ENERGY STAR® for New Homes Standard. The Builder Attestation has been developed to address technical requirements under the ENERGY STAR® for New Homes Standard that are not visible to the Energy Advisor during the as-built evaluation.
* The Builder Attestation must be kept current. Once signed, it is effective for one year from the date of signature.
* Annual attestations must be signed by a senior representative for the company as a whole.
* The builder may also attest to the ENERGY STAR® qualification of homes by development. In this case, the attestation may be signed by the Site Manager, and is considered current solely for that development.
